What can I expect out of this qualification?

The Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Leadership and Management) aims to grow leaders and managers in the field of early childhood education. The qualification explores in-depth the convergences and divergences between leadership, mentoring and management, to support understanding of the role of a range of leaders in the early childhood profession.
Students learn to:
* articulate what it means to be an authentic leader in the early childhood sector
* critique foundational leadership approaches and evaluate their relevance for the early childhood sector
* engage with the ethical basis of leadership
* foster communities of learning within an early childhood context
* develop and maintain a critically reflective stance in order to further inform their learning
* critically analyse key management processes to ensure that knowledge and understanding is developed for mentoring teaching professionals in the early childhood sector in a sustainable manner

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants for the Postgraduate Certificate must have a Bachelor degree at Level 7 (360 credits) or higher qualification. Applicants for whom English is a second language and Te Reo Maori is not their first language must provide evidence of an Academic IELTS score issued within the last two years of at least 6.5 overall, 6.5 in writing with no band score lower than 6 or equivalent. IELTS scores may be combined from two tests as long as on one test a minimum of 6.5 overall and 6.0 in each component is achieved.
