What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is for people who want to develop more of an understanding of tikanga within a specialist field founded on a Māori worldview.
Graduates of this qualification will have more knowledge and skills to support and participate in the practice of tikanga under guided supervision.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to apply knowledge fundamental to tikanga practices across the community in general.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Te enrol in this programme, a potential akonga must meet all enrolment requirements, including Te Wananga o Aotearoa Terms and Conditions of Enrolment and any relevant conditions specified by the Ministry of Education, the Education Act 1989 and the Tertiary Commission. For Example: -Akonga must be at least 16 years of age (unless an exemption from attending school has been granted) at the commencement of the programme. An exemption from attending school may be granted by a person designated under sections 21 or 26 of the Education Act 1989, by a school principal from a school in which the prospective akonga is registered, or by the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Education. - Akonga must be New Zealand citizens (or citizens of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cool Islands) or permanent residents. - Akonga must attend an information sharing hui with a kaiako He Papa Tikanga - Home Based Learning - Tauira must be at least 16 years of age. An exemption from attending school may be granted by a designated officer under the Education and Training Act 2020 (Section 38), or by the Secretary of Education (Section 39). - Tauira must be New Zealand citizens (or citizens of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent residents. - Tauira may only enrol in an additional part-time programme if the academic workload has been considered achievable (as determined by the Takiwa Academic Committee), and the additional enrolment does not exceed EFTS limits in accordance with TEC Funding Conditions.
