About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is for people who want to develop more of an understanding of tikanga within a specialist field founded on a Māori worldview.
Graduates of this qualification will have more knowledge and skills to support and participate in the practice of tikanga under guided supervision.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to apply knowledge fundamental to tikanga practices across the community in general.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Akonga must be at least 16 years of age (unless an exemption from attending school has been granted) at the commencement of the programme. An exemption from attending school may be granted by a person designated under the Education and Training Act 2020, by a school principal from a school in which the prospective akonga is registered, or by the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Education. Akonga must be New Zealand citizens (or citizens of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent residents. Akonga must attend an interview, or information hui, with a kaiako.
