What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is intended for individuals aspiring to or engaged in a career in adult, tertiary or vocational teaching or training who have a qualification or equivalent experience in their trade, vocation or other primary discipline. It represents the expected sector baseline qualification for a professional adult and tertiary teaching practitioner.
Graduates of this qualification have the skills and capabilities to provide high quality, contemporary and culturally appropriate teaching and learning in a range of teaching or training contexts.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
NCEA Level 2 plus 42 credits at Level 3 or equivalent; or evidence of ability to meet academic requirements, and English language competency where English is not a first language. Access to an authentic teaching/training context. Detailed Requirements - NCEA Level 2 includes passes in English or Te Reo Maori. - New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. - For candidates who come from non-English speaking backgrounds, an IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0, or an equivalent relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF-related rules (Rule 18); or evidence of English language competency may be required. - Candidates who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English language skills. - All candidates must carry out Practicum in an authentic teaching or training context and must meet the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
