What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the environmental management sector with individuals who have the skills and knowledge to operate effectively and independently.
This qualification is designed for people planning to work in environmental management.
The strands recognise those who wish to specialise in the fields of marine or terrestrial ecosystems, or conservation operations.
Aotearoa/New Zealand will benefit from having graduates who are able to contribute to environmental management through the application of technical skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

NCEA Level 3 (minimum 42 credits at Level 3) OR NZ2963 New Zealand Certificate in Conservation (Operations) (Level 4) OR an equivalent qualification An applicant over the age of 20 may be admitted at the discretion of the Head of School, where the applicant demonstrates the capability to undertake and complete the programme of study. All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language fluency prior to acceptance in the programme. For international students, ways in which English language fluency may be demonstrated include the following: successful study of a programme in which English was the language of instruction (subject to the conditions in EIT's Database for English Language Proficiency (DELP)) completion of a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 4 with any endorsement) IELTS Academic score of 5.5, with no band score lower than 5, achieved in a single test within the two years preceding enrolment accepted international equivalents to the above IELTS scores (see equivalency tables in the DELP).
