What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the floristry industry with people who are able to work effectively and demonstrate intermediate level floristry skills. This qualification is aimed at people with some experience who wish to progress their skills and knowledge in the floristry industry.
Graduates will benefit by having a qualification that recognises their skills and provides a training and career pathway in the floristry industry.
Graduates will be able to work under broad guidelines and will have some responsibility for their own performance.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Applicants must have: New Zealand Certificate in Floristry (Level 2) or equivalent skills and experience. Applicants who have attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the minimum entry requirements will be eligible to be enrolled where their previous educational, work or life experience indicates they have a reasonable likelihood of success. English and Domestic Language Entry Requirements If English or Maori is the not the applicant's first language, applicants will need an IELTS (General or Academic) score of 5 with no band score lower than 5, or equivalent. Other Entry Requirements Access to a Floristry workplace will be required for 60 hours of work experience before enrolment into FLO313 Base Medium Floral Pieces and FLO314 Retail Floristry. The workplace must be approved by Open Polytechnic via a signed Workplace Learning Agreement and must have a New Zealand Professional Florists Incorporated endorsed verifier.
